Current and Research Interests of Sasaki Lab for Sustainability
Welcome to the Sasaki Lab for Sustainability, a dynamic research group dedicated to addressing pressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices. Led by Dr. Nophea Sasaki, our lab focuses on a diverse range of research areas to foster a more sustainable future. Click here for PhD and here for master thesis and their publications.
Nature-based Carbon Capture
One of our key research interests lies in nature-based carbon capture, where we explore innovative strategies such as forest management, biochar utilization, regenerative farming, and carbon farming to enhance carbon sequestration and combat climate change. We aim to develop effective solutions for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and promoting carbon neutrality by harnessing the power of nature.
Nature-based Solutions
Another important aspect of our research revolves around nature-based solutions, which encompass forest ecosystem management, biodiversity conservation, and the development of sustainable ecotourism practices. By studying the intricate relationships between ecosystems and human activities, we strive to find sustainable approaches that simultaneously preserve biodiversity, protect natural resources, and promote local communities' well-being.
Applications of Technology 4.0 in Sustainability
In line with the rapidly evolving technological landscape, we also explore the applications of Technology 4.0 in sustainability. By leveraging cutting-edge tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and the Internet of Things (IoT), we aim to develop innovative solutions that optimize resource efficiency, enhance environmental monitoring, and improve decision-making processes.
Carbon Monitoring using Conventional Practices and Industry 4.0 Technologies
Our lab also focuses on carbon monitoring using a combination of conventional practices and Industry 4.0 technologies. We employ advanced data analytics and sensor-based monitoring systems to accurately measure and track carbon emissions, facilitating effective carbon management strategies for industries, governments, and organizations striving for carbon neutrality.
